Memoir written
about all of it

Amanda

Hi. I'm Amanda.

I'm the woman who ordered a cheeseburger alone in a Sydney restaurant at 23 and spent the whole meal convinced everyone was watching me eat.

Nobody was.

That moment - small, embarrassing, completely ordinary - turned into a book. A memoir called Nobody's Watching You Eat. Because it turns out that feeling? The one where you're convinced everyone is watching you, judging you, waiting for you to get it wrong? It follows you everywhere. Onto planes. Into hotel lobbies. Through departure gates. Around dinner tables in cities where you don't speak the language and don't know a single person.

And the thing nobody tells you is that it's not real.

Nobody is watching you as closely as you think they are. And even when they are, it doesn't matter. Because the life you're building on the other side of that fear is worth every awkward moment it takes to get there.

I know this because I've lived it.

I'm from New Plymouth, New Zealand. I've lived in six cities across four countries - Hamilton Island, Sydney, Whistler, New York, Boston, Denver. I've rebuilt my life from scratch more times than I can count. I've moved to cities where I didn't know anyone, found my people, built my life, and done it again somewhere new.

I've traveled to 17 countries, mostly alone. I've missed weddings and funerals and birthdays and bachelorette parties and births because international flights are expensive and life doesn't pause for distance.

I've done all of this without a guide. Without a blueprint. Without anyone who'd done it before me who could tell me what to expect.

I figured it out. And then I wrote it all down.

My memoir Nobody's Watching You Eat is the story of what solo travel actually taught me - not the Instagram version, but the real one. The crying in airport bathrooms version. The ordering something off a menu you can't read version. The calling home at 2am because you miss your mum version. And the waking up one day realising you are genuinely, completely okay on your own version.

Now I teach other women how to get there faster.

Book The Damn Flight is my 3-month solo travel confidence program for women who are done waiting for someone to come with them. It's everything I know, handed directly to you, in the order you need it.

Because you don't need a travel partner.

You just need to go.
